Trust

This week’s Go Deeper is about trust and a journey. Scripture tells us that if we place our trust in the Lord- if we delight in Him, abde in Him, and commit our ways to Him- He will give us the desires of our hearts. It’s easy to get stuck in trusting our own strength and the strength of others, but we must make the heart-journey from trust in ourselves to trusting the heart of the Lord. Here’s how we can refocus our trust this week:

WATCH DAN’S VIDEO
As you watch begin to ask yourself-

  • Where have you placed your trust?
  • Where is your heart on this journey from the heart described in Jeremiah 17 to the heart in Psalm 37?
  •  Where can you look for the rubble and be still before the Lord?
  • What are the desires of your heart? Are they the desires of someone who has placed their trust in God?

READ
Read Jeremiah 17:5-9 and Psalm 37:1-9. Consider all the ways we are impacted by where we put our trust. What happens to anxiety, fear, and shame when we put our trust in the Lord? What good and gracious blessings come from a heart that trusts in Him?

A GOOD TIME IN PRAYER
Take 10-20 minutes to Be Still in prayer:

  • Ask for the Lord to reveal places where you are putting your trust in man and your own abilities instead of in Him (Look For The Rubble).
  • Ask for the Lord to begin to rebuild your heart and the hearts of those in your family, neighborhoods, and in our country.
  • Ask the Lord to show you the desire of your heart. Reflect on what those desires are, and pray that the greatest desire of your heart would be more of the Lord.

REACHING YOUR NEIGHBORS
Part of trusting the Lord is stepping out in faith to build relationships and share the gospel with our neighbors; trusting that the Lord will help us know what to say and multiply our efforts for His glory. Check out this new track called "When It's Hard to Invite"
