What if the mission of the church is to bring people to Jesus so that He can grip us with wonder and great awe! Long before time began it was God's plan to adopt us into His family by sending Jesus to die for us. He wanted to do this. He didn't have to do it. Let that settle in. You are covered in His love. In Christ, you have a gotcha day. The adoption papers are signed. You are relentlessly pursued by a ridiculously lavish love. And so is your neighbor.
